Babu Aure A Sama? (No Marriage in Heaven?)
On a Sunday morning we were in Sunday school treating
a topic on Heaven. I taught the villagers how beautiful heaven would be and the
wonderful things believers would enjoy if they make it there. All these were
according to the Sunday school manual of the church. The manual mentioned that
there would be no sorrow, sickness, poverty, worries and all travails of the earth
when we get to heaven.
Also, according to the Bible, there will be no marriage in
heaven as Christ would be the Bridegroom and the church would be the Bride.
“For in
the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the
angels of God in heaven.” -Matthew 22:30

In my usual charismatic manner, I taught the topic
with so much passion, narration, description and drama that I expected the
whole church to be enthusiastic and desperate to make it to heaven.
However, I noticed one man was not happy all through
the teaching so I was not surprised he was the first to raise his hand when it
was question time. I obliged him. Speaking in Hausa which was translated by my
assistant who is the church’s interpreter, our dialogue went as follows.
“Oga you said there will be no marriage in heaven?”
“Yes, that’s correct” I responded.
“What will be the way out? Or will a man…a whole man
just remain like that?”
The whole church roared in laughter. I laughed too but
controlled myself not to be hysterical. I looked around at the faces of the men
and I could see they too were eager to hear my response. I paused for a while.
This question was obvious. How will a man deal with sexual urge or please
himself seeing that there will be no marriage in heaven and fornication is not
permitted here on earth let alone in heaven?
According to Philippians 3:20-21
“For
our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the
Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like
unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to
subdue all things unto himself.”
Thank God for the above scripture that says we would
take up new bodies in heaven fashioned like that of Jesus, bodies that won’t
feel sexual urges and pain, not susceptible to sickness or diseases, a completely
new body meant for the worship of the Master only. This I explained to them in
detail. Though they all nodded in agreement but I could see some were still not
satisfied. Well the Holy Spirit will do the rest and we shall understand it
better by and by…
“While we live in these earthly bodies,
we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies
that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying
bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this,
and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit” 2 Corinthians 5:4-5
Lol. Very funny, so eager to read more. Well done Sir
ReplyDeleteVery funny, poor man. He has no clue. It is a good reminder for us all to understand what Heaven and Earth is about and how they are different. I personally like the way the bible verses to support the discussion.
ReplyDeleteWell done Pastor!
This is why church community is important. People can come freely and listen to the true word of God. We need to hear and know the truth regarding what God is saying about Heaven. This way, we could be guided in our thoughts, actions on this earth in the right direction and be able to prioritize our needs by the help of the Holy spirit.
